We are working with a leading housing manufacturer based in Derbyshire who are experiencing a period of growth and expansion requiring a HSE Manager. You will provide continuous improvement in HS&E standards and ensure full compliance of the business. The successful candidate will be NEBOSH Diploma and Fire qualified with experience in a manufacturing or house building environment.

Industry: Construction/Manufacturing Location: Derby (Travel as and when required)

The Opportunity

  • The role will assist the Divisional and Group in providing continuous improvement in HS&E standards and to provide an effective contribution to ensuring full compliance of the business to the relevant legislation.
  • To set the standards for Occupational Health and Safety to achieve and maintain BS OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 accreditation
  • Ensure that the business implements safe operational and equipment installation procedures which identify all relevant hazards
  • Develop a HSE policy
  • Establish and monitor HSE business KPIs (e.g. zero reportable accidents) and make recommendations to improve on achievement of KPIs
  • Carry out regular Risk Assessments to check that policies and procedures are being adhered to
  • Advise on a range of specialist areas, fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery and occupational diseases
  • Manage and organise the safe disposal of hazardous substances
  • Implement robust first aid policies and accident investigation procedures

The Requirements

  • Health & Safety experience within a construction, house-building or manufacturing industry
  • NEBOSH Diploma
  • NEBOSH Fire – Desirable
  • Ideally will have worked with Construction Design Management (CDM) Regulations or training toward certification
  • Knowledge of ISO9001, 14001, OHSAS18001 and sector accreditation schemes
  • Membership of IOSH (Grad or Chartered) - desirable not essential
  • Full driving licence
